Ships Log November 4, 2005 Chesapeake Bay - Upper

We sailed from Chesapeake City at dawn and down the C&D Canal. The fall colors were brilliant along the shore.

We entered Chesapeake Bay and headed south to Worton Creek and the Green Landing Marina. Mike went for a walk into the rural countryside and ran across many deer and one very large grey fox.

Security at the marina was the most relaxed we had experienced to date. There was no one in the office, but local sailors said everything was on the “honor system”. We filled the boat with diesel and paid hours later when the office staff arrived. We paid $15 for a mooring ball, but ended spending the night at the fuel dock.

Around midnight, we awoke to the sounds of footsteps on the deck. We turned on the spreader lights and the trespassers ran away before we could open the cabin door. Nothing was disturbed.

It was a magnificent dawn into which we sailed that morning bound for Annapolis.
