.
Raven is a 41 foot Cheoy Lee Offshore ketch.
She was made in Hong Kong and launched in 1978. We bought her in Ft. Lauderdale in 1999 from owners that had sailed her for 15 years in the Bahamas and points south. We sailed her in the Keys and then brought her to Chicago to sail in Lake Michigan until we were able to start our world cruise.
She has sitka spruce
masts,
teak cabintop and the hull is fiberglass. Her draft is 6'6â€_ and displacement 24,000â€_ in cruising load. The groundtackle is a 45# CQR on 275' 5/16â€_ HT chain for a primary. This is augmented by a large Fortress on 40' chain and 250' rope rode, a couple of Danforth kedges and a 65# Fisherman storm anchor. For power generation, there is a Fourwinds wind generator and a Balmar high output alternator. Solar cells will be added in the Tropics to make us power independent without running the engine.
Accommodations:
Raven has an aft starboard double stateroom, a port pilot berth aft of the chart table, a forward double cabin which has been converted to storage, and the circular settees around the drop leaf table convert to a 8í diameter bed for use when not underway.
